The inscription Christus A.O.M.P.S. Defendit on Saunière’s Calvary is taken from the Obelisk of Pope Sixtus V in Rome that is dedicated to The Holy Cross – standing for Christus Ab Omni Malo Plebem Suam Defendat (Christ Defends His People From All Evil)
The ‘Mission 1891’ so-called Visigothic Pillar contains a Cross and the statue Our Virgin of Lourdes that rests upon it also faces The Calvary – that is of significance to the local area – and not mere accident
